Scientists from China (Tianjin University and Southern University of Science and Technology) presented a new technology "MetaBOC", which can become an alternative to artificial intelligence.

This innovation is based on the integration of the human brain and computer technology. Biocomputers are created from human brain tissue and connected to special chips.

"MetaBOC" is an open source platform designed for the use of biocomputing in various fields. Organoids from human brain tissue demonstrate excellent results in learning, surpassing the capabilities of traditional AI and neural networks. An important advantage of biocomputers is their flexibility and ability to adapt to specific tasks.

However, biocomputers also have their drawbacks: they require protection and satisfaction of biological needs (heating, power, protection from external influences). In addition, it is difficult to establish communication with such intelligence, since the brain tissue does not have tools for input and output of information.

To solve this problem, researchers propose using AI to help develop a “language” for communicating with biocomputers. Already, this unique technology is capable of controlling robots, avoiding obstacles and navigating the terrain.

Brett Kagan of Cortical Labs notes that from an ethical point of view there are no contradictions, since biocomputers, despite the use of living tissue, are not living beings and do not have consciousness. The tissue for development is grown artificially, and further development may lead to the emergence of consciousness in biocomputers.
